Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about using the NumBro app and learning Hindi numbers.
NumBro leverages your Android device's built-in speech-to-text service. When you tap the microphone button, you can speak a number in Hindi (e.g. speaking "Pachpan" or "Chaurasi"). The app transcribes your speech and instantly provides the breakdown in English digits, English words, Devanagari numerals, and Hindi spelling.
Yes, absolutely! The core calculation engine, translation logic, phonetic guidelines, and speech synthesis run 100% offline. You do not need a Wi-Fi or cellular connection to translate numbers, which makes NumBro the perfect utility for traveling or exploring remote markets in India where data may be limited.
No. Your privacy is our highest priority. Microphone access is used exclusively on-device. Audio files are processed in memory to produce text and are never recorded, saved, or uploaded to any NKlabs server or third-party entity.
While modern English uses Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3...), Hindi also utilizes the Devanagari script for digits (१, २, ३...). NumBro displays both formats so you can easily associate standard numbers with local bills, price tags, and street signs in India.
NumBro uses Android's Text-To-Speech (TTS) engine. Please make sure that the Hindi (India) speech voice package is downloaded on your device. You can verify this in your Android system Settings -> System -> Languages & input -> Text-to-speech output -> Preferred engine settings (download Hindi language pack).
